Aching has set in so we're stretching at every opportunity.

After a good night sleep and a hearty brunch we're all off for a tour of the city before flying back

Raising - the new lowering

Scottish Fayre

Haggis, neeps and tatties was enjoyed by Shergar at the Corinthian in Glasgow. The restaurant was awarded an Alex Sherman award for culinary excellence.

CD/US mod'd transit

Our van was pretty weak in comparison

Drinks

Just having our first celebratory drink following our success!

A great team effort and really enjoyable - being on the 4 peaks!

Comments!

Thanks to all who have left comments on this Blog whilst we have been walking. They have really helped us all throug.

Keep checking back for more updates and photos!

The team

Almost there... stay on target

We had to run hell for leather (whilst observing numerous safety rules and conservation signs) down Ben Nevis to complete the challenge on time. Was a bit of a mission.

Hurrah

We made it! Up and down all 3 in 23 hours 45 minutes! Woohoo

Close down report

Lessons learned:

  1. don't climb 3 mountains in a row unless you're well 'ard
  2. don't give up even in the face of false summits
  3. don't drink freezing cold red bull at 5:10am
  4. do observe conservation signs about damaged paths
  5. be thankful for mist and darkness

Top of number 3!

We made it!

3Rd hill!

Well we've been going about 50 minutes on the last hill torches are working well and we are making good progress. Expecting sun up about 4am

Head torches

We all felt like an SAS team making our way to the dropzone. Well all apart from Brian, who has the ability to scramble up hills in the pitch black at 6 mph - he didn't have a head torch so he went on ahead to let his eyes adjust to the dark. We caught him up just before dawn, one hour and thirty minutes into a 4,000 feet ascent.

Last mountain

Hi all. We'd probably give the last mountain a 6 or 7. Not too hard on its own but after one already it was tough.

As for doing the next mountain in the dark we expect to be doing some of it in the light probably most of the way down. We do have powerful head torches like miners so the but we are doing in the dark should be easy enough!

Scotland

We've just arrived in Scotland to cheers from .... Er ... Well noone really. We're mostly sleeping in preparation!

Landing pad

Nuff said

Emergency stop...

The clock is ticking. We've had to stop because Nick needs a number 2. He did offer to hang out of the window. For health and safety reasons and consideration for fellow travellers and passing cars, we naturally declined his offer.

Fish and chips

Yum! We just stopped off for fish and chips before starting our real trip to the next mountain so we're all nicely refuelled and will probably be sleeping like babies shortly.

More later when we get to the next mountain.

And we're down number 2

So we made it down safely! There were a few killer bits in that hike but we made it eventually. Now on the way to Ben nevis wich is a 5 to 6 hour drive leaving us 5 or 6 hours to get up and down Ben nevis. Only 11 hours left people!

Stay tuned!

Consistency

Scafell Pike laid to rest.

Aviators

Wasdale is a very fashion conscious area of the lakes with a population of 5 people, you will know doubt understand the pressure to purchase and wear aviators.

Hosepipe ban

Cumbria was looking a little dry... G was caught replenishing the shrubbery.

Number 2 done!

And we're at the top of number two! About two hours to the top and much harder! Over half way done! Now for the trip down.

We're off again

Climbing up number two! It's tougher already

Click click click...

What's that sound? Eeeww nick is clipping his tornails in the back of the van. 45 mins to scarfell.

Weak ankle

Despite a poorly ankle Alex Sherman contemplates the second hill as he remembers friends and a colleague with lesser complaints. I.e. Nick Arditti!

Fetching

Not talking about the open toe sandals... Am directing this at the extremely tight ankle support Alex is sporting.

All credit to him... he twisted his ankle a little while back and still had the strength to carry on with the challenge.

It's precisely that reason that we all starting to refer to him as a mountain goat. I think?

Kevin and Perry

Whoever made that comment had us chuckling for a while, well aside from Nick.

England!

We're back in glorious old England making good time on our drive so far.

We've been asked how hard the first mountain was out of 10. The general consensus is......3

The next one will be harder!

Going past Colwyn Bay

Everyones relaxed and reading todays newspapers, listening to a joss stone CD. There's a funky smell in the van, stale sandwiches and drying socks...

And down again

We made it safely down the first hill! Almost half way there!

Was a good hike up with some spells of sun! Pretty cold at the top and quite windy. For some reason we took a different route down - the pyg trail which was not as good as the trail up - the miners trail and we lost a few minutes of valuable walking time.

Have an estimated 4 hour drive to the next hill.

Put your hands on, put your hands on

With an eye for a photo, Nick requested we start a theme for each summit cairn or trig point... Magical!

And we made it!

We're at the too of snowdon! 1085 meters! The cafe isn't open so we're going to walk down and get something there!

...then the pain set in...

This shot was taken just before the climbing really began...

Eager Ramblers

All a little excited about to head out up the first hill.

Go team, go team!

Nearly there

About 5 minutes to goto the first peak

Climbing

Well we got here ok last night about midnight. No reception in hostel but now we are climbing there is! Only about 250 vertical meters left1

Wales

We've just crossed over into Wales! To massive cheers and the youth hostel calling is to let us know that they will let us in when we get there.

We're currently navigating at about 12 roundabouts a minute. The youth hostel reckon it is about 1 hour from here so we are going to try to prove them wrong in our sixt mobile demon:

Shermy's pooped

Not in his pants! He is sleeping like a baby. This guy can sleep anywhere! He even told us that he slept on a boulder at a rock concert once!!! Jeez... Night Night

Off again

And so we're on the road again. We expect to arrive at the hostel around midnight! It is right at the bottom of snowdon so we start when we leave the front door in the morning.

We'll be having a cooked breakfast around 630 and then setting off about 7. Have a good evening y'all!

Fast Food Nation

Despite having just discussed the nasties of fast food, we stopped of for a bit of BK. Although it should be noted Nick opted for a Chicken Cajun wrap from M&S... hmmm yummy.

Moving again

And we're off again hurrah. All that for a broken down horse box! 3 miles to the services and dinner.

Traffic jam!

We're queueing already! Junction 6 m40.

Anyone know how long this queue is let us know!

Sheep

The sheep jokes have started!

We've left! To the first cries of "are we there yet". No incidents yet!

Waiting

We're in the van and waiting to depart. Its about 30 degrees and Nick is already hungry.

Oi! Stay away from my pringles.
